On March 18, 1999, Wendy's GED class visited the Boott Cotton Mill at the Lowell National Historical Park.
We were studying the 19th century textile industry in Lowell, Massachusetts
and learning about the mill girls who worked there
by reading Katherine Paterson's novel Lyddie.
Wendy thought a field trip would help us learn things we need to know for the GED.
Do you want to know how we prepared for the trip?
Once we were there, we took a tour, worked on a simulated factory line, and tried to organize a union.
We did learn things that are important for the GED.
